Setino, natural silk duvet by T.SILK COLLECTION

Buying a natural silk duvet and bed linen means seeking and choosing well-being, comfort, health and quality.

When purchasing silk bedding and natural silk duvets, don't settle for generic information, catchy phrases, marketing strategies, or exaggerated advertising. Instead, opt for authentic details, genuine images, and quality of a luxury silk comforter like the Setino natural silk duvet.

Silk is a niche fiber that must be understood and explained to be truly appreciated. Trust those who, like us, have been working with silk for over 120 years , who understand its deepest characteristics, communicate its excellence, promote informed consumption, and develop new products.

1. Mulberry silk isn't the only silk. What is a natural silk duvet?

Mulberry silk is not the most valuable or durable silk. There is no single “best” silk. There are different types of silk with different characteristics:

  • Wild silk , incredible natural colors
  • Eri Silk , exceptional thermal qualities and cruelty free
  • Muga Silk , (and others), absolute respect for the land and the environment

We create an exclusive natural silk duvet with mulberry silk outer fabric and 100% mulberry silk padding.

We create mulberry silk duvet but also products and projects with wild silk, Eri silk, Tussah silk, Muga

The silk of T.SILK COLLECTION

Mulberry silk is the best-known and most widely cultivated type of silk. It is a versatile fiber with stable quality and a natural, iridescent ivory-white color.

Our Mulberry silk has been handed down for generations, the result of decades of selection and centuries of experience to guarantee only the best fibre and the best product construction.

We create an exclusive natural silk duvet with mulberry silk outer fabric and 100% mulberry silk padding.

2. Momme: Density is not quality

Momme is a unit of measurement for density. Momme is not an indicator of quality.

The term derives from Japanese (momi means mulberry leaf): in ancient times, the weight of silk was compared to a certain number of mulberry leaves. Momme indicates "only" the density of the threads present in a silk fabric and, indirectly, the weight of the fabric. A 25-momme fabric is not qualitatively superior to a 19-momme one . It is simply a fabric with a higher thread density and therefore heavier.

The real factors that determine quality are:

  • Silk yarn quality
  • Fabric construction that enhances the quality of the fiber and thread
  • Craftmanship production.

The T.Silk Collection line is the quality of knowledge

Quality starts with the control of the supply chain to obtain maximum attention to the quality of the fibre and the silk thread or yarn

  • UltraSoft silk fabric for exclusive sheets, pillowcase, duvet cover, natural silk duvet , topper, padded pillow
  • A complete set of 100% silk bedding designed for comfort and breathability
  • Patented T.Silk 100% silk padding
  • Made in Italy, Tailor Made, Made to Order

In our Setino natural silk duvet we use a patented construction to enhance the proprieties of the natural silk fibre

The natural silk duvet and all silk bed linen offer the perfect balance between quality, lightness, naturalness, comfort and performance.

3. Silk padding. The Value of 100% silk

Be careful with fillings . Many fillings, even if generically declared as "silk filling," are actually blends of synthetic fibers (polyester, nylon, viscose, PLA), resins, chemical or mineral volumizers. These contaminations, sometimes exceeding 50%, absolutely compromise:

  • Naturalness and pollution
  • Well-being and health
  • Performance, thermoregulation and breathability
silk padding

T.Silk is the padding that guarantees 100% pure natural silk without contamination, without other fibres other than silk:

  • Thermoregulation, warmth and breathability
  • Sustainability and health
  • Naturalness
  • Body care, health and well-being
  • Ecodesign and ease of recycling

Our natural silk duvets use only 100% silk filling and fabrics without synthetic fibers and without chemical treatments, ensuring a breathable duvet made of natural materials.

4. Washing and maintenance. Silk requires care.

Silk is not a fragile fiber but requires attention in ordinary maintenance to preserve its aesthetics and its functional properties.

It's not true that silk can't be washed. It's not true that silk can be washed in any way.

For correct maintenance, a series of few but strict rules must be followed which vary depending on the product: delicate programs, hand washing or dry cleaning, protective bags, no dryer.

Silk products declared washable without precautions must raise doubts about their actual composition

Each T.SILK COLLECTION product, including the natural silk duvet, the mulberry silk comforter are accompanied by clear instructions to maintain quality, beauty and performance over time.

5. Not all natural silk duvet padding are created equal

Many imported natural silk duvets , especially Chinese ones, feature a padding derived directly from the unprocessed silk cocoon: bucolic images of workers manually pulling the cocoon to obtain a veil of silk and gently layering it one on top of the other to get to the silk filling hide the fact that inside there are still high percentages of sericin (20-25%) , a protein that in such a high presence can cause:

  • Skin sensitization,
  • Allergies
  • Bad smells and yellowish halos

Manual overlapping makes the padding uneven with a possible greater presence of fibre at the edges of the silk duvet

T.silk's padding avoid these issues, making it a truly hypoallergenic silk duvet ideal for sensitive users.

T.Silk 100% silk padding. Patent and research

The T.Silk padding is an Italian and European patent resulting from Cosetex research.

Uniformity, volume and lightness with a balanced content of sericin and a high content of fibroin, to offer:

  • Thermal Comfort
  • Well-being and perspiration
  • Body care
  • No odor formation
  • Maximum tolerability.

Our Setino natural silk duvet is unique : it uses the patented T.Silk padding, stable, uniform, light, high-performance, rich in fibroin.

6. Silk is a fiber. Its proteins are valuable. A natural silk duvet is a product of excellence.

Silk is not a protein . Silk is a natural fiber of animal origin . A chemical combination of two proteins:

  • Sericin - external glue protein,
  • Fibroin - internal protein, the heart of fiber

Only a perfect balance between the two proteins allows us to obtain effective, healing, high-performance silk bed linen and beauty accessories, such as:

7. Satin, a type of fabrics not a fibre

Satin or "Raso" are terms that indicate a type of fabric construction and do not identify a fiber. There are satins made of cotton, silk, and polyester. Satin does not mean polyester fabric.

Satin and raso have always been linked to silk as it is a construction that enhances the characteristics of natural brightness typical of silk

For the natural silk duvet and silk duvet cover we use an UltraSoft satin specifically designed for our line of sheet products that makes the silk proteins readily available , with an unparalleled lightness and softness, protection and well-being.

8. Viscose is not silk. Viscose is not a natural fiber.

Viscose is a man-made fiber created to mimic the characteristics of silk, a man-made chemical fiber produced using chemical systems and processes. https://www.cosetex.it/blog/seta-artificiale-viscosa-rayon-fibra-naturale/
At the dawn of its invention, it was called artificial silk, a name later banned due to illegal confusion. Viscose is not silk.
Wood fiber, bamboo fiber, fibers from natural elements or waste, and eucalyptus fiber are viscose and no original natural element can be found in the chemically treated yarn or fiber.

Silk is a natural fiber. Our silk is more silk than silk

The silk used in our products comes from controlled and certified farms for certified product lines. They help maintain a balanced and sustainable environment with:

Only the best silk becomes the fiber for the natural silk duvet.

9. Is colored silk safe?

Offering dyed and colored silk products is an aesthetically appealing option, but it also presents significant challenges and uncertainties regarding health and chemical release. Especially with imported products, uncontrolled dye baths can release harmful, unnatural chemicals that are harmful to the skin, health, and hair.

T.SILK COLLECTION - Natural silk Collection

T.Silk Collection is offered in its natural color because:

  • It enhances the refractions and the iridescence of the silk
  • It does not alter thermoregulation
  • It promotes the contact of healing, physiological and healthy elements with the skin and hair
  • There are no chemical elements present
  • Promote Made in Italy
  • Reduces waste

The Setino natural silk duvet is natural silk in origin and color

graphite silk

The g_silk project

The g_silk project is the only element different from the natural color of the T.SILK COLLECTIONS project:

  • an engineered symbiosis between silk and graphite powder
  • a patented natural dye
  • a process for obtaining a very soft fabric with total protection from UV rays
