Rules for correct maintenance and washing

Silk is a highly resistant and durable fiber with absolute excellence that can be fully maintained and enhanced by following a few simple rules of care and washing.

Structural and chemical characteristics

The single silk fiber is a natural technological laboratory whose structure guarantees high levels of performance:

  • Sericin , a natural protein: an external sheath that performs the function of protection and cohesion of the internal part:
  • Fibroin , Natural fibrous protein: the internal part made up of numerous microfibrils.

Mechanical and physical excellence

The particular structural conformation and the internal molecular bonds give the overall structure of the silk fibre some peculiar mechanical characteristics:

  • High Tenacity and resistance to breaking when subjected to elongation forces (higher than Kevlar and Nylon);
  • High flexibility ;
  • High elongation , greater than 25% of the initial length.
  • In the event of breakage, it does not show any weakening of the structure .

These characteristics make it an ideal fibre for use on products in contact with the body, guaranteeing precise adaptation to the morphology of the body with extreme lightness and softness combined with extreme durability.

How to use and wash

By virtue of its completely natural protein conformation and the construction of T.SILK COLLECTION products, in order to enhance their characteristics and keep them constant over time, some precautions and rules for maintenance and washing are necessary.

Usage

  1. T.SILK COLLECTION silk products must be left to air out to regain internal relative humidity and dissolve the natural bonds to enhance lightness and impalpability (at least once a week is recommended).
  2. T.SILK COLLECTION silk products should not be left in direct contact with the sun for too long to avoid excessive stiffening and variations in color tone.

Washing

Products: sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, headbands

  • For localized stains, clean with a white cloth and mild soap and let air dry.
  • Dry cleaning: Cold delicate wash at a specialized dry cleaner, tumble dry at low temperatures.
  • Hand wash: maximum temperature 35/40 degrees - Delicate detergents - Do not tumble dry -
    Dry naturally on a horizontal surface – Do not twist or wring – Do not expose to direct light.
  • Machine wash on a very delicate silk cycle (30 degrees). Spin speed should not exceed 800 rpm. We recommend using a delicates bag. Shrinkage of 3-5% is possible. Do not overload the washing machine. If possible, wash with other silk products. Do not use synthetic detergents.
  • Iron at max. 110°C, preferably with a damp product and a protective cloth.

Products with internal padding: silk duvet, toppers, silk masks, scrunchies

  • For localized stains, clean with a white cloth and mild soap and let air dry.
  • Dry cleaning: Cold delicate wash at a specialized dry cleaner, tumble dry at low temperatures.
  • Hand wash: maximum temperature 35/40 degrees - Mild detergents - Do not tumble dry - Dry naturally on a horizontal surface - Do not twist or wring - Do not expose to direct light.
  • Iron at max. 110°C, preferably with a damp product and a protective cloth.

Product: Pillow

  • For localized stains, clean with a white cloth and mild soap and let air dry.
  • Using a removable pillowcase helps reduce the frequency with which you need to wash your pillow.
  • The version with a protective silk bag allows you to easily remove the padding and leave it to air dry, washing only the pillowcase.
  • Do not machine wash the entire pillow or the body of the filling. Do not tumble dry.
